On Saturday night I had without a doubt one of my favourite meals in Paris so far... From someone who is totally obsessed with food, that is a pretty tall claim, but a completely genuine one. 42 Degres is the first and only 100% raw vegan restaurant in Paris, and it was also my first ever 100% raw meal. Even as a lover of healthy food I was a tiny bit skeptical that the food would be bland and I would leave hungrier than I arrived. Luckily I could not have been more wrong.

Let your food be your medicine...

The restaurant was almost full and very buzzy, but the staff were still super friendly, which makes a nice change in Paris... They were very patient with all our questions - when faced with a raw vegan menu for the first time you are bound to have quite a few. Despite a long list of amazing sounding juices and smoothies, it was a Saturday night, so we kicked off with a bottle of red....

Things got tricky when we had to order food... we spied around what everyone else was eating, and it all looked incredible - for some better lit photos of raw vegan heaven go onto the 42 Degres Facebook page linked on their website. We decided to share tacos to start. I wouldn't usually choose to eat something with "meat" in quotation marks, but I'm glad I took the risk. First up: Tacos de "viande" végétale, guacamole, refritos et salsa de tomates.

The tacos were delicious and we pretty quickly wished we had ordered more than one plate of them! But they had nothing on what was coming next. I have made vegan pizza before and been more than happy with the outcome, but this was insanely good. If there is one dish to silence the skeptics out there.... Amelia and I did half and half burger/pizza because I am the worst with food envy and can't help but worry that I will want someone else's meal more than mine. Our second main was a portobello burger with vegetable crisps, which was great, but definitely came in a close 2nd. Burger de champignons portobello, chips des légumes déshydratés

With pudding came a big old dose of heart break... I adore banoffee pie (even more so when its good for you) but Amelia does not do bananas. We were amazed to find we really were too full to have a pudding each, and Olly opted out all together, so we settled for pistachio nougat with carob caramel which turned out to be heavenly. My dimly lit photos don't do it much justice so you will just have to take my word on that one - or go and try it yourself.

Overall the food was awesome and we had a brilliant evening. I was amazed to see a boy munch his way through a raw pizza without a single mention of meat§ I can't wait to go back - the spaghetti bolognaise looks delish and there is definitely a slice of banoffee pie with my name on it. There is a lunch menu which changes daily and looks yummy too - on Instagram there are loads of photos of raw falafel, soups, salads and other beautiful creations so it is definitely worth a visit.
